Safety Requirements for Using a Concrete Trailer Pump

Using a concrete trailer pump on construction sites is essential for efficient and precise concrete placement. However, to ensure safety and optimal performance, certain requirements must be met. This article outlines the critical safety guidelines for operating a concrete trailer pump.

Concrete Pump Trailer

Material Specifications

  • The grain size of sand and gravel, the grade of cement, and the mix ratio must adhere to the machine manufacturer’s specifications to meet the concrete trailer pump’s mechanical performance requirements.

Equipment Stability and Preparation

  • Both the parking brake and the locking brake of the pumping equipment should be engaged simultaneously.
  • Tires must be securely chocked, the water supply should be adequate, and the water tank should be filled with clean water.
  • The hopper must be free of debris, and all lubrication points should be adequately lubricated.

Securing Bolts and Seals

  • All bolts on the concrete trailer pump should be tightly secured.
  • Pipe joints must be securely fastened and sealed, and all protective devices should be complete and reliable.

Control and Hydraulic Systems

  • All operation levers, adjustment handles, handwheels, control rods, and rotary valves must be in their correct positions.
  • The hydraulic system should function normally without any leaks.

Preparation and Lubrication

  • Ensure cleaning pipes and supplies are ready.
  • Before operation, lubricate the pipes with a cement slurry prepared according to the regulations.
  • Unrelated personnel must stay away from the pipeline of the concrete trailer pump.

Stabilizing and Extending the Boom

  • All stabilizer legs should be fully extended and securely supported. Do not start the boom until it is properly fixed.
  • After raising the boom support, it can be rotated, and the boom should be extended in sequence.
  • It is strictly forbidden to use the boom to lift or pull objects.

Movement and Operation of the Boom

  • Do not move the concrete trailer pump when the boom is fully extended.
  • If movement is necessary during operation, fold and secure the upper section of the boom, and do not exceed a movement speed of 10 km/h.
  • The boom must not use piping with a diameter exceeding the specified limits, and the attached wheel pipe should be secured with anti-disengagement safety straps.

Monitoring and Adjustments

  • Continuously monitor various instruments and indicator lights. If abnormalities are detected, adjust or address them promptly.
  • If the delivery pipe becomes blocked, reverse the operation to return the concrete to the hopper, and disassemble the pipe to clear the blockage if necessary.

Handling Under Pressure

  • Do not open any delivery or hydraulic pipes while the pumping system is pressurized.
  • The safety valve of the hydraulic system must not be arbitrarily adjusted, and the accumulator should only be charged with nitrogen gas.

Post-Operation Cleaning

  • After operation, discharge all concrete from the hopper and pipes, then clean the pump, hopper, and pipes thoroughly.
  • When using compressed air to clean pipes, no one should stand within 10 meters of the pipe outlet, and metal baskets or other devices should be used to collect expelled foam rubber and gravel.

Boom Pipe Cleaning

  • Do not use compressed air to clean the boom piping.
  • The folding and retraction of the boom must follow the correct sequence.

Resetting Controls

  • All operation switches, adjustment handles, handwheels, control rods, and rotary valves must be reset to their original positions.
  • The hydraulic system should be depressurized.

Conclusion

Adhering to these safety requirements is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of a concrete trailer pump. Ensuring that the equipment is prepared correctly, monitoring during use, and proper post-operation cleaning can prevent accidents and maintain the longevity of the machinery.
